Argontus Personal bodyguard of Roxelias
Roxelias Master of the Floating Dragon Bazaars. It is said that Roxelias always has his eye for profit as nothing seems to go without his notice on his domain. and Commander of the Draegaari Bloodguards
Roxelias
Master of the Floating Dragon Bazaars. It is said that Roxelias always has his eye for profit as nothing seems to go without his notice on his domain. A military legend turned mercenary for hire.
To call Argontus a mere bodyguard would not tell the whole tale of the Prideblood legend.
Argontus became known in the Prideblood war against the Orcs. Part of a vanguard unit tasked with attacking and harrassing the orc camps in nightly raids to keep them disorganised and demoralized, Argontus was often outnumbered and on the run inside enemy territory with no chance of backup. It didn't take long for the assigned commanders to fall in direct combat or a retaliatory attacks during the night, when Argontus was declared the leader of the unit but with no orders to follow he was to either retreat back across the unknown dangers of the front line or keep on to the best of his ability.
Argontus believed that with the death of their last emblemed member, the orcs would know prideblood warfare enough to summarize that they were without proper leadership and expect them to retreat, aiming to cut off their retreat options. So instead Argontus believed that the best option would be to attack the war chief of the orcs camp at night aiming to assassinate the orc while he believed himself to have won the battle.
Correct in his assumptions, the war chief had sent out most of his troops hoping to catch any stragglers and leaving gaps in his defenses. Though still too many to take the camp head on, Argontus lead his troops sneaking through the camp at the dead of night until they reached the inner grounds. The battle was quick and loud, and the highguards of the orcs fought fiercely, but when Argontus left the tent of the war chief holding his severed head the orcs were in shock and disarray that left him and his troops an opening to leave the camp in full retreat before the orcs regained their bearing.
While the significance of this battle isn't known as none of the prideblood commanders had considered the option, Argontus was hailed as a hero and made an official commander of his unit when the war was over.
Though a hero to his people, what is a war legend without a battle to fight? Though Argontus had no shortage of work for himself, those of his unit would struggle to make ends meet when without the orcs around the nobles of prideblood society no longer needed as many guards to protect themselves.
Without a war to fight, Argontus aimed to find his people and all their families a place in the world as well. Sailing the seas looking for mercenary work and with the renown of a legend, it wasn't long before Roxelias
caught wind of these soldiers of fortune sailing his waters. Before they even made their first port, an advance party of the Winged Corsairs approached them with an offer too good to refuse. A life for them and their families on the Floating Dragon Bazaars as the personal life guards of the Lord and the guards of the bazaars themselves.
While mercenary life as a bodyguard isn't tough, there are high expectations to meet and a strict regimen to adhere to every day.
Marching through the bazaar alleys, the bloodguard are to envoke a sense of dread in spectators to ward of troublemakers before they get any ideas and to be vigilant for intrigue, to respond rapidly while at a disadvantage and be expected to win.
The bloodguards life is one of constant training, maintenance and adhering to a dresscode in their uniform as well as their bodies to ensure the awe and fear of onlookers.
And with Argontus at the side of the bazaar master himself, the Bloodguards of Draegaari are well known for achieving their effect.
