New inhabitants of the Nivalite capital, now named Hibernia, the hibernids aim to achieve a glory for themselves like those achieved by their benefactors before them.
Having a past nomadic lifestyle, the hibernids remember a time when resources were always scarce and life was a constant struggle. Having to select which of their kin would live and who would pay the price for this.
Remnants of the hibernid graveyards that their elders left for and the remains of their abandoned children can still be found littering the wastes of past. Seen with shame and disgust by themselves, the hibernids use tales of their past lives as a reminder to their youngs of why they should be thankful and gracious of the lands they now inhabit.

When the hibernids first came to the abandoned nivalite metropolis, they didn't think much about it. Scavenging the ruins for supplies it wasn't until they came to the royal palace that their lifes changed. For despite the years of neglect, the luxury of the palace was still intact. Awed by its splendor, the hibernids searched everywhere and found discovered the means of making the city operational again.
With the means of suppying themselves indefinately within this city, the hibernid settled there permanently. Surrounded by the architecture of the imperial Nivalites of the past that they then would attempt to emulate. Recreating the dressing and mannerisms depicted in the statues that adorn the streets and the painted walls depicting interactions between nivalites greeting and speaking.

As the city's light began to shine again, the hibernids used it as a beacon and saved their kin from their lives in the wastes. The city booming in size as it's population of hibernids grew. Empty streets and vacant houses steadily became populated by new inhabitants settling in to their new life.
For creatures accustomed to the cold climate, the city as a practical paradise. Capable of sustaining food and serve as shelter for the entire hibernid population, if not for the doorways being too short for the hibernid frame one would think it made for them.
Streets teeming with new life, the hibernids steadily settled into the way of their progenitors. Reforging their identity and emulating the styles of clothes found in the vacant shops and the formal manners perhaps better suited for gentry, the hibernids have come to see themselves as ascended beyond their primitive history and aim to make themselves into a civil society aspiring to become a place of culture and learning for all.
Note that though the hibernids can seemingly come of as docile and gentle mannered, their natural survival instincts are still alive and well inside. Cause a hibernid to feel stressed and under stress and you may not live to tell the tale.
"Incredible sight to behold at the previously desolate capital of the Nivalites. These hulking forms of flesh and muscle calling this place home now walking the streets with the courtesy only fitting of the most gallant of gentry. Why if the sailors that escorted me here hadn't decided to get drunk and begin a brawl at the local watering hole before having their guts strewn from one end of the street to the other I would have thought them harmless."

Democracy within Hibernia is, like many other aspects, a little different from how it is known elsewhere. Indeed there are elections and candidates are chosen from among the most popular, but it isn't as simple that the most popular candidate gets elected. Rather, hibernids with enough votes are considered eligible for office and have to enter a brawling contest with the other candidates in order to attain the position, for Hibernian politicians must stand by their positions and be willing to undergo advercity to see it fulfilled.
This idea of political brawling extends into the hibernian electorate, where each occupied seat maintain the right to veto every proposal set forth, thereby issuing an ultimatum to the proposer to take on each veto issuer in a brawl within the electoral ring or withdraw their position in silence.
Indeed their strange ways seem barbaric and brutal to outsiders, but to the hibernids it is a time honored tradition that keeps keeps corruption and incompetence at a minimum within their society and promotes a culture of civility and camaraderie within peers standing up for each other.
